Rocky Mountain National Park

We cruised to Boulder, CO after Fort Collins. We were there for all of one afternoon before heading west toward a unique alpine village called Nederland. We camped nearby in a
secluded campground under the full moon and headed into the Rocky Mountain National Park the next day. Wow!!!

We met a great guy named Jerome who joined us on our first trek into the beautiful National Park. It was Jerome's first hike ever! What an adventure! We hiked to some high mountain lakes and trekked through snow.

Believe it or not, there was a major storm brewing!

We raced down the mountain when the lightning started flaring up all around us. The thunder was so loud that we jumped every time it cracked. Mark suggested that we hunker down until the storm passed--which was definitely the smart thing to do. . .

. . . but, we kept racing down the mountain instead.

When the storm cleared it was a perfectly clear day again.

The Rockies are amazing and unpredictable. We'll be back.
